back from the sun. two weeks ago i went down to florida to work at cornerstone florida, helping with the set-up, tear-down and everything in between. it was good seeing many friends i haven't seen in ages, as well as making some new friends.

after the festival, i got the invite to stay in florida with my good friends jd and misty and their family on the coast for a week. we stayed in a rent by the week/month condo overlooking the ocean in a place called treasure island. it was a nice relaxing week, one filled with sun, salt-water, sand, ping-pong, seafood, chess and (sadly not enough) shuffleboard.

one interesting thing about where we were was the "live" entertainment that the restaurants had. i found three places where guys played cover songs backed by tracks, provided by a cd player and drum machine. one played an electric guitar, the other an acoustic, and on the last day we were there a guy played santana songs on a mandolin.

it was, in a strange way, very intriguing and inspiring, because, if all else fails, i know i can hop a plane to the west coast of florida and make a living playing music at a seafood restaurant.
